FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MMA Announces Recent Vacancies on The Board of Directors
The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) recently accepted, with deep regret, two resignations from individuals that had to resign from the Board of Directors for personal reasons. Both positions terms are due to expire this October at the MMA's annual meeting, however, the board would like to fill these positions immediately and is seeking qualified candidates to fill these positions effective at the board’s monthly meeting on May 2, 2012.
The first position is that of Business Manager recently vacated by
Dave Elias
. Dave served on the board for just over ten years in various positions. He started as the District One Representative, then became the District One Manager and finished out his tenure as the Business Manager and Vice Chairman. Dave consistently demonstrated his commitment to motorcycle rights and safety as well as the riders of this state over his entire time serving in those various capacities. Spending countless hours over the years, devoting his time and energies unselfishly to the organization and its members, Dave's expertise will be greatly missed and the entire board wishes him well in his new endeavors. MMA Chairman Dave Condon stated, "Dave and I worked together for many years going back to when he was the Manager of District One and I was the District Representative. We built up a strong working relationship and friendship during this time. I know personally this was not an easy decision on Dave's part and one that he did not make quickly or easily." Condon further stated "Dave will be sorely missed because of his dedication but mostly because of our close personal relationship. His will be some big shoes to fill."
The second position is that of District Two Manager recently vacated by
Pete Stagman
. Pete has served on the board now for several years starting out as the District Two Representative and then moving on to become the District Two Manager. Pete worked tirelessly in District Two during his tenure with the board in both positions; he held meetings and brought representation to that district that had not had any formal representation in some years. He most recently was very active in dealing with the discrimination of motorcyclists by establishments within his District. Pete spent numerous hours both visiting establishments to verify their policies and photographing their no motorcycle "colors" signs. Even upon resigning he stated he will continue to help out the MMA anyway he possibly can. "I'm not really going anywhere," Pete stated, "I just have something's going on in my life right now that prevent me from putting in the time required of a District Managers position. I plan to stick around and help out the MMA in any way I can." Chairman Condon stated, "Pete stepped up down there when no one else would and that in itself is greatly appreciated. Being a member of the board for the MMA is a big time commitment especially as a volunteer, and Pete did just that. The entire board thanks Pete for his service and extends its sincere thanks and best wishes to him."
Any individual interested in applying for either of these positions please contact Chairman Condon via e mail at
chairman@massmotorcycle.org
. The deadline for filing your intent to run is no later than midnight on April 25, 2012. The qualifications for these positions is you have to have been a member in good standing with the MMA prior to May 2, 2012 for at least a year. The District Managers position has the additional requirement of living within District Two. You also must be willing to be at the board meeting on May 2nd to accept the nomination and answer any questions that board members may have. MMA monthly board meetings are held at The Rose Garden Restaurant and Pub 16 Milford Street (Route 140) Upton, MA and begin promptly at 7:30 PM.
Individuals desiring more information should contact Chairman Condon at the above e mail address or by calling 1-800-432-1MMA.
