March 24, 2010 - The MMA reports a Storm brewing on the horizon
Ride with the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) as we visit the State House in Boston on Thursday, May 20, 2010 to discuss our Legislative Agenda with our elected officials.
This is the 9th annual MMA Legislative Lobbying Day and all members are invited to schedule appointments with their Senators and\or Representatives to discuss what’s important to us. Many of these legislators actually look forward to this event and the riders who take the time to talk with them.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Senator Robert Hedlund (Plymouth & Norfolk), a long-time supporter of the MMA and Biker-Friendly Legislation, will be riding in this years’ Storm. Pending last minute Senate scheduling, Hedlund will ride with us and will be the featured speaker in Somerville at the Lion’s Club.
Staging areas across the state (see below) are being announced and all areas will converge at this NEW LOCATION:
Lion’s Club\Senior
Center 9 New Washington Street
Somerville, MA 02143
NOTE: this is NEW WASHINGTON STREET, not WASHINGTON STREET
New Washington Street is a private road near the Holiday Inn and the MMA has coordinated with local Police to allow staging for all motorcycles on this road. The Lion’s Club will open at 9:00AM and provide “pay as you go” breakfast items such as coffee, muffins, breakfast burritos, omelets, fruits, water and juice.
All riders should expect to arrive no later than 10:30AM-11:00AM to allow time for breakfast and other activities before heading out PROMPTLY at Noon.
Special thanks go out to Cindy Hickey of “Toys for Local Children”. Cindy and her group were instrumental in procuring the Lion’s Club, and arranging for the food and servers and clean-up. As a token of appreciation, all riders are asked to bring a NEW TOY with them to DONATE to the “Toys for Local Children”. Check www.ToysForLocalChildren.org for additional information on this organization.
Event T-Shirts will soon be available online at www.MassMotorcycle.org and will be available for pickup day of the event. Annual rockers will also be available.
Please visit www.MassMotorcycle.org for additional or last-minute Storm information and to RSVP for this event. If there are any questions, please e-mail MMA Legislative Director
Hope to see you there to help us lobby for biker-friendly legislation in Massachusetts and don’t forget a toy.
